Terras de Bouro

Terras de Bouro is a markedly rural municipality, where, however, there is no shortage of attractions to visit. Located on the South Bank of the river and in the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, here you can find landscapes of a rare and extreme natural beauty, and its lagoons, waterfalls and the virgin forest. In addition to the National Park, the Caldas do Gerês and the shrine of St. Benedict the open door are also points of great interest. For Caldas, believed to have been exploited since Roman times, however, have not been found traces of buildings from that era, which assumes that poor facilities have been used. The first spa resort itself was built in the 18th century, having emerged from there, a wide range of associated infrastructure, including hotels. The gastronomy of the region offers the cozido à Terras de Bouro (similar to cozido à Portuguesa, but with beans), Fireworks to Plays and the lamb in the oven, all accompanied with the Greens reds of the region. To finish the meal, taste the typical vermicelli.
