Alvito
Alvito and Vila Nova da Baronia are the two parishes that make up the Alvito municipality, one of the smallest in Baixo Alentejo. Of a markedly rural nature, its landscape is also characterized by the passage of the Odivelas stream. Agriculture is, therefore, the main activity of the region. Culturally, it is also enriched by the typical Alentejo songs, which are still easily heard, thanks to the various existing choral groups. The pursuit of handicrafts and gastronomy reinforce Alvito's identity. Embroidery and leather work are still done by local people. Sausages, made in the municipality, homemade bread, garlic bread soup, "migas" with pork or lamb are on the menus of local restaurants.
