Vieira do Minho
Flanked by the mountains of Cabreira and Gerês and composed of 21 parishes, the municipality of Vieira do Minho is characterised by its rurality. The rivers Cávado and Rabagão, North, involve the landscape and to the South lies the albufeira of Ermal. Of ancient origin, it is possible to find archaeological remains and several Roman bridges, besides having been the scene of some episodes of the French Revolution, the Liberal wars and birthplace of the popular movement that became known as "Maria da Fonte". The gastronomy of the municipality is one of the main points of attraction. Barrosã veal, goat, cabbage and beans, the cozido à Portuguesa, cod and, above all, Fireworks and the papas de Sarrabulho make the delights of who around here. The slopes of the Serra da Cabreira comes the cheese cured sheep. In addition to basketry made in Bouro parade, is in this county that are made in copper, in particular, the replicas of the stills, and blankets made of coarse woollen cloth. The feasts of Senhora da Fé, on the first Sunday in June, are the most significant, but July and August are also time of pilgrimages.
