Tabuaço
Considered the capital of the Romanesque, the town of Tabuaço is located in the Alto Douro Wine Region, classified as a World Heritage Site. The landscape is covered in orchards, chestnut trees and Douro vineyards. The elderly tell legends of love between Moors and Christians and strange doctrines professed in times past at the mythical Granja do Tedo, while they work baskets, kites or weave endlessly. It is on these arts, on the delicious gastronomy and on convent sweets that the municipality's cultural heritage is based. Roasted goat with oven-baked rice, fried lamb, marinated river fish or chestnut jam are delicacies that are always at the table, accompanied by Douro or Port wine.
