Resende
Halfway between Cinfães and Lamego, on the south bank of the Douro, is the municipality of Resende, one of the smallest in the country in terms of territorial extension. The beauty of the granite landscape, the monuments and the rich archaeological heritage are strong arguments that justify a visit. The handicrafts are very rich and very varied: black clay, straw hats, basketry, embroidery, wool socks, "brezes" and "croças", blankets and rag rugs. As for gastronomy, don't miss the ham, chorizo and salpicão, oven-roasted lamb and goat with oven-baked rice. Those with a sweet tooth must try the famous "cavacas", "rosquilho"s from Aregos, "falachas" and the toasts from Barreiro. If you go to Resende in spring, enjoy the cherries.
