The place where it was deployed this temple, originally in the 11th century and rebuilt in the 13th century, is of great importance both as strategic geographic, in following the politics of King Alfonso III of Asturias in secure population in the Douro Valley and create security conditions in the area during the Reconquista. Late Romanesque architecture displays, resulting radical renovations between the 13th and 14th centuries, and modest construction, because the Eja influence would be reducing despite the importance of the territory of "Anegia" from 870. The altar was renovated during the Baroque era, displaying national-style gilded, sectioned by three arches. Is considered a national monument since October 15, 1927.
