This Roman dam or reservoir is situated on a small stream in the Pêgo da Moura area. With a straight layout, it has a maximum height of 3.30 meters and the drainage basin covers an area of ​​2.3 km². Traces of a primitive vault and a watermill are also visible.

Located halfway between Grândola and Santiago do Cacém, its main drawback is the access, much of it via dirt roads.

Located by the beach, the Melides Lagoon spreads inland through several miles of rice fields and has a sand cliff to the north. It is a quiet and peaceful place, located about 200 metres away from the shoreline. Several species of birds inhabit it, namely the little egret, the purple heron and the sandwich tern. There is a camping nearby.

This large, religious-style architecture is an example of one of the most symbolic Baroque monuments of the reign of King João V, built in 1753. The church we see today replaced a chapel. Among other notable features are the tiles from the second half of the late 18th century that decorate the walls; inside, the two marble altars of various hues are another highlight. The week-long pilgrimage to the Lord Jesus of Mercy takes place every year around September 20th.

A single-nave church featuring 18th-century tiles depicting the life of Saint Francis of Assisi, the carvings in the chancel, and the imagery stand out. The temple was built between 1701 and 1719. Finishing work continued for several years, with the date 1761 inscribed on the door.

Since Elvas was a military city, its history, from its earliest days to the present day, could not be overlooked. Since 2001, over a hundred military artifacts have been permanently exhibited here, along with several videos depicting significant episodes in Portuguese history.
