A village with schist houses, on of the preserved villages of the Lousã Mountain.

This hill is located between the Açor and Sicó hills, to the southwest of Coimbra, bordering the district of Leiria. It has a length of 30 km and a width of 30 km too and reaches its peak at about one thousand metres, on the Alto do Trevim. It has many valleys and abrupt descents on its northwest side. Sanctuary consisting of four chapels: Capela de São João (15th century), the chapel of the Lord of agony (19TH century), the chapel of Nossa senhora da Piedade (17th century as probable) and Senhor dos Aflitos Chapel. These chapels were built one at a time, between the 15th and 19th centuries. Its interiors retain sculptures, like that of St. John the Evangelist in painted limestone and the Senhora da Piedade, the latter of which usually goes out in days of procession.

A place with lovely views of the Hermitages and of the Castle, with the serpent shaped São João brook coming from the mountain until it forms a river pool. The entire mountain and the mountain villages of Casal Novo and Talasnal are visible as well.

This museum presents a collection spanning diverse national ethnographic, where you can find instruments related to agriculture, such as agricultural implements and coupling systems. Is divided by several nuclei, such as the killing of the pig, the pottery, kitchen serrana, bread, olive oil, flax and blacksmith, cobbler.

This village has been recovered several times. After having been abandoned, several years ago, the houses were occupied by hippies from northern Europe and also by families from Coimbra for their summer vacations.
