Located by the shore, in the Tróia peninsula, this village dates back to at least 5000 years ago. The vestiges of shells and ceramics of the neolithic show precisely that. Very rich in cultural terms (as one can see in the boats miniatures, the wooden shacks and the embroideries) irs 600 or so inhabitants are devoted mainly to farming, fishing and preparing the rice. Located betwwen two brooks that lead to Alcáçovas, Santa Susana is a typical village of the Alentejo region, with white houses decorated with blue bars. The dam's proximity allows for the practice of water sports and fishing. It has a river beach, with cork oaks and pines on the banks, a shooting area and hunting areas.
