Estarreja
The municipality of Estarreja, located in the Baixo Vouga sub-region, is part of the district of Aveiro and is characterized by the existence of streams and canals that cross all parishes. Its connection to the Ria de Aveiro led to the development of the shipbuilding industry, from where the famous "moliceiros" boats, used to harvest "moliço" (seaweeds), and the merchant boats, important in connecting Aveiro with the remaining riverside areas, come from. Crafts and gastronomy are two of the region's attractions. In the first case, miniature boats, rag blankets and rugs, reed brooms and painted yokes are very popular. The most popular flavors are "padas", eels, roast meat, "rojões", cornbread, sweet "regueifa" and sponge cake.
