12 brunches impossible to resist in Lisbon

Cosy on stormy days and with a terrace to soak up the sun in the summer, the Brick Café is the ideal place for a break in the middle of the city's "chaos". With options tailored to all wallets, at weekends Brunch menus vary between €6.80 and €11.95. If you prefer, you can also opt for the à la carte service. The dishes prepared are generically simple but very tasty.

There are several Copenhagen Coffee Lab & Bakery scattered around the capital. More sought after by foreigners than locals, they made coffee their brand and adapted well to the invasion of brunches. In addition to the buffet, you can order many dishes a la carte, such as the traditional Danish dishes and other freshly prepared flavours. Danish signature cakes and sandwiches with fresh produce are also key ingredients for a tastier week.

At the DeliDelux in Santa Apolónia there is a riverside brunch every day, with extended hours at weekends. There are three menus to choose from, between €14.90 and €18.90, where the pancakes, eggs and salmon shine. The terrace invites you to a visit on a sunny day, with your eyes set on one of the most characteristic landscapes in Lisbon. The space contains a grocery store, as well as the DeliDelux Avenue, where you can buy some products, namely charcuterie.

At Fauna & Flora, in the heart of Madragoa, brunch is when the customer wants. It is available daily, until closing time, and the bet is on healthier meals. There are bowls, banana pancakes and porridge, toast and granola bowls, among other tasty choices. The atmosphere is pleasant and ample, which, combined with the colourful dishes, makes the delight of any "Instagrammer". If you have the opportunity, visit this space during the week, since it is much sought after on Saturday and Sunday.

Of French inspiration, La Boulangerie bets on a brunch, individual or shared, brightened by its famous croissants and brioches. Choose from the standard menu or arrange your own meal. Vary a little and try a brunch as a "take-away picnic", where you can pair the products with incredible views and perhaps a romantic moment. In the surroundings it will be easy to choose a place, but we leave as a suggestion the garden of the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga (National Museum of Ancient Art).

At weekends, you can join brunch and art and opt for the Macau Hall of the Museu do Oriente (Museum of the Orient). In a buffet style, with a cost of €25 for adults, the first meal of the day begins with an irresistible view: the Tagus River and the 25 de Abril Bridge. But let's not forget the protagonists indoors, arranged at a common table. From cold to sweet, to oriental dishes that make the difference, the choice is varied. Beautify the day with a stroll along the waterfront.

Pão de Canela, establishment with much tradition in the Praça das Flores, organizes brunches at weekends and holidays, between 10am and 16pm. The space has a standard menu, which costs €18 and comprises several options, namely croissants and hot dishes. The offer is varied and the choice is at the customer's taste. After your meal, enjoy a stroll in the centre of Lisbon.

As the name implies, the speciality is the bagels, based on a family recipe. Raffi's Bagels, located in Estefânia and Campo de Ourique, have won over the public with the "versatility" of their bagels in various dishes. At weekends, they return to be the protagonists, this time of a creative and very tasty brunch. The set menu of €13.5 includes, amongst others, a bowl of your choice and home-made bread; you can also add extras to your order.

The last stop in Lisbon happens in Vermelhosa, that opened its doors in 2018, in São Bento. Next to the Assembleia da República, this cosy tea house is mainly known for its French delicacies, such as sweets. On Saturday there is Brunch, featuring various options with national and French products, as well as hot and sweet drinks, the most popular one being the hot chocolate, of secret recipe.

About 20 minutes from downtown Lisbon, in Alfragide, you will find A Fazenda, a multifaceted restaurant that, at weekends, reinvents itself for brunch. The standard menu costs €15.90 and is served between 11am and 4pm. The offer is diverse: there are jams, eggs, salads, seasonal fruit and hot drinks, and you can also choose from other options on the menu. If you like the experience, take time to visit the space on Thursday, when Bossa Nova is live.

Travel to the other bank of the river Tagus and make a strategic stop for brunch at Casinha do Chá, on Costa da Caparica. Brunch is served every day, between 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with options for all tastes and prices that vary between €7 and €12.5. The stars of these meals are scones and pancakes, branded images of this tea house, which you can also purchase individually. The location of the space, a few metres from the beach, invites you to complete this meal with a promenade by the sea.
