It is not known for sure how it was born, but it seems that it was in Los Angeles, in the 60s, due to the desire of Californian surfers to continue to slide on their boards, even at times of low tide and flat sea. Seven decades later, it was recognized as an Olympic sport and made its first appearance at the Olympic Games in 2021, in Tokyo. Skatepark Expo
Built more than 20 years ago, with the Tagus River and the Vasco da Gama Bridge in the background, it is one of the most emblematic parks where besides skateboarding, rollerblading and cycling is also possible to enjoy one of the most buzzy spots in Lisbon, with access to all types of services and with a perfect mix of tracks, including one of the biggest pump tracks in Europe.
Odivelas Skatepark
Built on a former lake, it went through several generations of skaters, and it is also on the list of the oldest skate parks in the country. Also known as Skatepark da Torre, in 2020 it had renovation works. With a new start, it also gained new curves, handrails and walls, and a facelift in slopes and obstacles. And not being too big, it will allow great tricks!
Quantum Park Lisboa
It combines adrenaline and fun in the same space and promises unforgettable family hours! For those who are taking their first steps in skateboarding, there are skate ramps, one of them with a giant airbag that protects the most acrobatic falls, for kids and adults. But you can also try climbing, trampolines, football fields, vertical drop or try your luck in the many games available.
Skatepark de Monsanto
Located in the middle of the forest, with incredible surroundings, it is the perfect place for those looking for nature and tranquility in the Lisbon area. Divided into three levels, the upper ones have the typical street obstacles, for all levels, and the lower one is the area reserved for the bowl. A park where skating or rollerblading will become an unforgettable and bucolic experience.
Fun Track
In a more familiar version, if you are looking for a safe place to skate, rollerblade, go-karts, bicycles, scooters and countless other sports in Lisbon, head to the Alcântara dock. Here is located the Fun Track, which has about 400 meters of track, where you can release your inner child and make your kids expend their energy until the last drop.
Praça do Comércio / Terreiro do Paço
With the Tagus River as a backdrop, this is one of the largest squares in Europe and a perfect street skate track. Located in downtown Lisbon, and surrounded by historic buildings that once served as the official home of the Portuguese monarchy, this is an excellent place to try the most incredible ticks, under the watchful eye of the statue of D. José I and hundreds of tourists who pass through here every day.
Praça Martim Moniz
Also located in Lisboa downtown, and next to Rossio, if you want to walk around the city skateboarding in hand, this is a good place to make an extreme stop and show off four-wheel acrobatics. It is one of the most multicultural spaces in the capital city and over the weekend it is full of events, music, fairs and people. Perfect if you are visiting the city and have brought your skateboard!
Parque das Gerações
The end of the day in this place is magical and, for that reason alone, it is well worth a visit. Open to the Atlantic Ocean and with lots of space, it's a good spot to bring your skateboard or skates and enjoy the sunset. It is well-equipped with ramps, obstacles, tracks for all kinds of sports, and shops and cafes. An unmissable space that brings together several generations of skaters from around Lisbon.
Skate Parque do Casal da Barota (Massamá Norte)
This extreme space, with innovative ramps, is perfect for mid-level skaters, skateboarders and BMX riders. It is located in an urban park with good accessibility, many green spaces and gardens, ideal for outdoor activities. You can also ride a scooter, inline skates or bicycle.
Skatepark São Sebastião
Located near the Reitoria da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, you will find this skate park, integrated in the Corredor Verde de Lisboa, where there is a bike path. It is made up of some wooden structures, decorated with sprays of different colors, and is recommended for anyone who is just starting their first tricks in this extreme sport.
