Trofa
The municipality of Trofa, located in the extreme north of the Porto district, has excellent accessibility. It is integrated into the Vale do Ave Industrial Historical Heritage Route and, despite being a recent municipality, Trofa's historical path is long and predates the constitution of nationality. The Festival of Nossa Senhora das Dores, which takes place on the third Sunday of August, is the most popular event in the entire municipality, with plenty of traditional Minho pilgrimages, processions, music bands and fireworks. In gastronomy, the highlight is the traditional "papas de sarrabulho", "caldo verde", "rojões" and roast suckling pig, which is very popular in some of the region's restaurants.
