Benamor Golf

The decision to build a golf course on the grounds of the Quinta de Benamor was taken in 1986. The owner, the Martins Family Days, invited the Sir Henry Cotton to develop the project of a field of 18 holes. Sir Henry was inspired by the old chapel near the ClubHouse and the spectacular location. During the construction, many changes were instigated by people involved in the different stages of construction. The end result was a wonderful golf course, par 71, of 5500 metres (6100 YDS), which offers a pleasant gaming experience for players of any level. The field is undulating but not mountainous. The landscapes of mountains in the North and the Atlantic Ocean to the South are magnificent. The olive trees, cork trees, carob trees, fig trees and almond trees, many indigenous centenarian, determine its aesthetic characteristics and terms of game. The obstacles of water and sand bunkers are located to test the strategy and accuracy of shot of the player. The greens and tees from Pen A4 are simply superb.
