Castelo de Pinhel
This castle was previously a fortification lusitana, having been, however, the Romans did grow militarily. In the reign of King Dinis were carried out works of fortification and expansion, being erected six towers and building walls around the village. After losing their defensive function the Castle fell into decline. Currently there are only a few pieces of walls, some doors and two towers. It is assumed that this place existed a castro built by the lusitanians, vettones or turduli, refugees there. Later it was also occupied by Romans. It was during the reign of d. Afonso Henriques who effected the first restoration. Later, in the reign of King Dinis, sustained expansion works. The Manueline window exists dates from the reign of d. Manuel I.
