Forte de São Julião da Barra
This fortress, built in a strategic point that allowed a dominance of the inlet's entrance, was one one of the most important Portuguese war fortresses. Inspired by the 1500s Italian model, it is one of the better preserved fortresses. A special note to it terraces, domed casemates and the cistern.
