Castro de Medeiros/ Cabeço dos Mouros
The castro de Medeiros, also called Cabeço dos Mouros, is located between monte da Corujeira and Christian Carambos and is about 3 kilometres from the Centre of the village of Montalegre. Is a town surrounded by two rows of walls and a deep moat. The outer wall is visible from the South and west sides, about 2 metres wide, whose interior is filled with Earth and stone girl. At some points in the vast mountains, forks where are still visible some tears. On the West side there is a jumble of stone, from the collapse of the wall. On the upper deck of the castro are the stone aggregates and a greater concentration of Indian pottery and construction debris. To distinguish the wide visibility which is obtained from this site, since the serra do Larouco further north, to the South the Vale do Rabagão and serra das Heights of Barroso. You get an excellent angle of visibility to other settlements, among which are the castro de São Vicente of Chã, Picoto Castle, the castro de Morgade, the castelo de São Romão, the castro de Andelhe, the castro de Vilarinho de Negrões, the castro de Negrões, the castro de Morgade and the castro of heights, in the municipality of Boticas. No less interesting is referring to finding dual lug axes dropper, deposited in the Museum of the Faculty of Sciences of Porto. This finding, together with the pottery found is once again confirm the prehistoric chronology of castro.
