Biblioteca do Palácio Nacional de Mafra
The Library occupies the most noble and vast of all the rooms in the National Palace of Mafra. It is one of the most important European libraries, with a collection of about 36,000 volumes, from the 15th to the 19th century, covering diverse topics such as Religion, History, Geography, Medicine and Art, among others. The rich collection includes rare works from the 15th century, several Bibles or the first Encyclopedia. Also, noteworthy is a set of about a thousand banned books.
