Escalada ao Pico

Climb to the highest point of Portugal is a unique challenge and unforgettable, that isn't within everyone's reach. This is a demanding course, even for those who are accustomed to walking trails. The walk begins on the Western side of the mountain at about 1230 meters of altitude, in Casa da Montanha do Pico. After providing the data to the Municipal Firemen da Madalena, can initiate the rise of 1100 metres in altitude, along a route of 4700 meters, with an inclination that reaches 40° slope in some points. The top of 2351 metres from the little prick, is possible, since the sky is clean, observe all the islands of the central group and a plethora of ocean. If possible, go up the middle of the afternoon to avoid extreme temperatures and camp until the next day at the top. In this way, you can follow the Sun in all its splendour!
