Dornes
The village of Dornes is located on a bay of the Castelo de Bode dam and is one of the most typical and picturesque in the centre of Portugal. The low white houses are looked upon by the medieval castle that seems to have been built by the Templars where there used to be a roman watchtower of the deep Zêzere valley that was on the border between the moorish and Christian territories. A special note to the mother church, built in the 13th century and rebuilt in 1453, with the image of Our Lady of the Pranto and the stone chapel of Saint Antão, with 17th century images.
