This church of mercy presents elements Manueline, Mannerist and Baroque. The building was adapted to movie theater with Manueline Vault.

Originally intended to house the municipal butcher shops, this building was donated to the Irmandade da Santa Casa da Misericórdia was considered too lavish for the purpose intended. The current building dates from the late 17th century\/early 18TH century, rising till then in the 16th century, the primitive Church location from which only the holy water and sink some hispano-Arab tiles reused. It is a Mannerist style church with nave and vaulted chancel, which currently houses the Municipal Library entries pole of Castro Verde.

This church was erected by the Confraternity of mercy of Vila Ruiva, founded in 1751. In the Church and attached houses functioned not only the Church but also hospital that housed pilgrims and sick people. The interior of the Chapel is devoid of ornamentation with rectangular and square chancel.
