With a great architectonical simplicity, the Almas chapel dates from the beginning of the XVIII, and was repaired and enlarged in 1801. In 1929, the façades were covered with azulejos, by Eduardo Leite, representing the life of São Francisco de Assis and of Santa Catarina. The main façade presents a glass window by the painter Amândio Silva. Inside, the panel painted by Joaquim Rafael, representing the Lord’s Ascension and the image of Nossa Senhora das Almas stand out.

Founded in 1540, this convent features of various eras. In this monument are the main façade, the taste, the filipino side, with its three-story portico, (being the last Baroque, with pediment crowned by the Royal shield). A special attention to the balcony of Kings, five arches Gallery to the left side of the portico, the two cloisters and the interior, with three naves, with all its decoration. Currently, works here the Municipal Museum Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso.

Building designed by engineer Adriano da Silva Monteiro (1846-1925), with neoclassical traits, of remarkable Italian theatrical architecture, having been opened in 1892. In the living room of spectacle stands out the ceiling, by António Ramalho, with an allegory alluding to the themes of tragedy and comedy, where, among other things, is part of the name of Garcia de Resende. In addition to work as show room, it also has a school of theatrical training.

Melgaço Castle currently consists of an imposing keep - with three floors, a parapet protruding over corbels, crowned by pyramidal merlons and with a hipped tile roof - and the surrounding walled enclosure, in a good state of conservation. It is believed that it may have had 3 towers and two doors, according to Duarte de Armas in his “Livro das Fortalezas” (Book of Fortresses) from 1509. The current tower houses the Melgaço Keep Tower Museum.

Manueline building where stands out the gate assigned to Marcos Pires, the triumphal arch and the vault of the chancel of Diogo de Castilho. The altarpiece of the main Chapel, triptych, presents in the center pane Nossa Senhora da Graça on the side panels and the conversion of St Paul and the fall of Simon Magus, representing the primitive Portuguese painting. Note also the altars with 16th century paintings and tiles from the 17th and 18th centuries.
