The stream that crossed it was used to create a scenery of lakes and fountains punctuating the surrounding green area. According to tradition, Miguel de Vasconcelos, Secretary of State of the Duque of Olivares and of the Countess of Mântua and killed in 1640, has lived here. The house has 1500s characteristics and still preserves some windows and doors with stonework and sculptoric elements such as half columns amd medalions among others. It still has a stone coat of arms.

House of late-Baroque architecture located in the centro cívico de Montalegre, in front of the Court and the Town Hall. It is a granite Manor that formerly was surrounded by gardens. Another highlight on the access door to the courtyard, a monumental granite shield, where they carved the coat of arms of the Lords of House. He served at one time as a residence to the mayors of Montalegre.

After the earthquake, the Marquês de Pombal promoted the opening of taverns, being the Martinho da Arcada the oldest (1782). Located in one of the arcades of the Comércio Square, the interior of the café gives a close image to what might have been the outline of the establishments of that period. Nowadays, there are poetry and musical events in the café that was Fernando Pessoa’s favourite.

The chapel of the Amparo has a facade lavishly decorated by niches containing images, frowns, volutes, pediments and a telescope. House made famous by the novel of That Ribeiro, "casa grande de Romarigães".

At the top, are the Royal Arms and the middle of the building, rises the clock tower. This construction marks the urban reform held by the Corregidor and purveyor of the District of Porto, Francisco de Almada e Mendonça.
