Located on a plain above the Alva river, Sabugueiro is the highest village in Portugal (an altitude of 1050 metres). It started from the shacks of sheperds that used the mountain's pastures for their sheep and their goats. The engraving on the rock by the Canariz Fountain is a testimony to the peopling of the area in remote times. Even though there are still shepherds and related activities (wool and cheese production), rural tourism has developed in the last few years and there are several typical houses currently adapted. A very old village, located on the foothills of the Estrela Mountain, with a vestige of a roman road. The mother church, known as Catedral das Beiras (Beiras Cethedral), a rather large temple, with golden carvings, a ceiling with 102 paintings and religious objects stands out. Nearby, the "Curral dos Romanos", also known as Sobreda dolmen (Public Interest Construction), an interesting olive oil press of the Middle Ages, at Rio de Mel and the Penedo da Moura (Moura Rock), a natural cave, are worth a visit.

The Arouca Geopark covers the administrative area of Arouca municipality, which has been stated by his exceptionally located geological heritage of international relevance recognized by European and Global Network of Geoparks of UNESCO since April 2009. The valuable and unique geological heritage inventoried covers a total of 41geossítios especially the famous Parideiras Stones in the village of Castanheira (Serra da Freita) and the Trilobites Canelas giants.

Ribeira de Pera rises in Serra da Lousã, more precisely in Porto Ervideiro, at 1180 meters above sea level. It crosses the municipality of Castanheira de Pera and Pedrógão Grande and flows into the Zêzere. Along the way, there are other points of interest, such as the caster mills and the old oil mill.

When you get to the mouth, the big Ria de Aveiro, the Vouga River spreads in fairways (being that some get into the city itself). Behind are 150 km, since the Serra da Lapa, and several contributions to thicken the flow, the last of them quite close to the mouth – the Águeda River.

A tributary of the Mondego river that starts on the southwest hillside of the Estrela Mountain. There are several villages, as well as some river beaches and, due to its steepness, small hydroelectric centrals.

Located in the northeast of the council of Pampilhosa da Serra, on the right bank of the Unhais river, the village of Meãs has less than 200 inhabitants. The region originated before the foundation of Portugal as can be seen by the presenc of several castros (celtic villages). It has typical schist houses. A special note to the chapel's tower and to the "alminhas".
