Typical beirã village, located only nine kilometres of Proença-a-Nova. The houses are in shale and the typically narrow streets. For several years, this village was uninhabited until, gradually, if were buying houses to recover, other rebuilt the rigor, without ever forgetting the shale, the traditional tile roofs and the Woods. The village of Alvito da Beira may have been moorish in its origins. According to the historians, it was the moors who firstly introduced the olive trees in the region. By the early 20th century, ther were 10 olive oil presses in the parish. Small walls were built, of which there are still vestiges, to protect the olive trees. The architectural heritage includes the mother church, the crucifix, the font velha (old fountain), the Mó fountain, the fountain at Dáspera and the Sobraínho fountain. The craftswork includes tapestries, hand made shoes, iron objects and more.

A dam on the Douro river with imposing landscapes of vineyards with an amphitheatre shape. The most common fish species are the barbel, the nase, the carp and the chub. There is a river beach, a pier and access ramps. Swimming and the use of motor boats are permitted. Fishing and surfing are also allowed with certain restrictions.

Between Peso da Régua and Pinhão, get out at Covalinhas to reach the São Leonardo peak and its chapel. This space was an inspiration to the poet Miguel Torga, with its views of the Douro valley. The Unhais River is one of the many tributaries of the Zêzere river and flows along the hillsides of the parish of Pampilhosa da Serra.

The Zêzere river has its sping on the Estrela Mountain. It is the second major river that flows exclusively in Portugal, after the Mondego river.
