The São Vicente thermae were first authorized in 1901 (and later in 1927). Nevertheless, the population already used these waters to rest and treat several different illnesses since the Roman days. Its 50 há are rich in granitic terrains water. Consideered the most alcaline of all the Portuguese sulphuric waters,they are specifically indicated for the treatment of respiratory diseases, rheumatism and muscular and bone diseases. Even so, its activity is currently suspended due to the bad condition of the water.

Inserida na Reserva Ecológica Nacional, a Lagoa de Pataias é a principal zona húmida do concelho, sendo um dos principais pontos migratórios de aves aquáticas. La, é possível contemplar estas espécies através do observatório, e também conhecer uma variedade de peixes. Na margem, existe um parque de merendas que permite desfrutar de um piquenique em contacto com a natureza.

In the Natural Park of Alvão, about 5 kilometres away from the centre of Vila Real, the 20 metres tall Galegos da Serra waterfall shows itself majestic. Due to the intense fracturation one can clearly view deep alterations in the granite. The mill of Ribeira de Arnal (road Agarez/Galegos da Serra) completes this unique watercolour of Trás-os-Montes.

A long lagoon with about 1.3 km2, formed by two main areas linked by a narrow channel. Surround by vast sandy areas, this place has tranquil waters and is a refugee for several bird species. It may have once beeen a passage from the Tejo river to the sea, which is located about 150 m away. It has protected dunes.

Ideal for those who love fishing, at the entrance of the Guadiana river one can enjoy an excellent view of the neighbouring Spain. In Castro Marim, as the river bed grows larger, the area that is classified as a Natural Reservation is dominated by the fens and by the ancient rice fields. The Guadiana flows along an extension of 803 km and can be navigated in its last 48 km, where its width varies between 100 metres and 500 metres.

Arch-vault dam located on the Dão River (Mondego Hydrographic Basin). It was completed in 1984 and supplies the municipalities of Mangualde, Nelas, Viseu and Penalva do Castelo.

Arch-vault dam on the Zêzere River, near its confluence with the Nabão. It was completed in 1951 as part of the national policy for the use of hydroelectric resources. The reservoir, with an extension of about 60 km, offers enviable conditions for sports and contact with nature. It is an important strategic water reserve, supplying around three million people daily, the overwhelming majority of Greater Lisbon. Located in the Algarve Leeward area, it covers the Municipalities of Loulé, Faro, Olhão, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António. The Park is a lagoon system located along 60km, between the sandy peninsulas of do the Ancão and the Manta Rota, being limited at south by a twist of sandy barrier-islands: Barreta, Culatra, Armona, Tavira and Cabanas.
