The São Vicente thermae were first authorized in 1901 (and later in 1927). Nevertheless, the population already used these waters to rest and treat several different illnesses since the Roman days. Its 50 há are rich in granitic terrains water. Consideered the most alcaline of all the Portuguese sulphuric waters,they are specifically indicated for the treatment of respiratory diseases, rheumatism and muscular and bone diseases. Even so, its activity is currently suspended due to the bad condition of the water.

Ideal for those who love fishing, at the entrance of the Guadiana river one can enjoy an excellent view of the neighbouring Spain. In Castro Marim, as the river bed grows larger, the area that is classified as a Natural Reservation is dominated by the fens and by the ancient rice fields. The Guadiana flows along an extension of 803 km and can be navigated in its last 48 km, where its width varies between 100 metres and 500 metres.
