A hill of the Minho province. It is located near the Lima river and separates the municipalities of Viana do Castelo, Ponte do Lima and Paredes de Coura. It is mostly granitical. It reaches its peak on a plain, at an altitude of 800 metres, and it is 13 kilometres long.

The tower together with the City Council building and the misericórdia building both from the XVI century, form an important architectonic ensemble. An archaeology museum that features valuabel finds of several archaeological sites of the parish, and represents a time range that goes from pre-history to the roman days. It has a room devoted to pre-history and others devoted to the "castreja" culture (the days of the Celts). The museum also has plenty of archaological material that may be studied by interested searchers. It has also an ethnographic collection related to fishing, agriculture, linen and regional clothes, as well as a valuable collection of religious art.
