The original temple was founded in 1148 by D. Afonso Henriques and destroyed in 1179. It was reconstructed during the 12th century and underwent several reforms; it has three naves with six ranks and Doric columns. It stands out the fifteen hundreds chapels and the glazed tiles from the 17th century. The façade presents a mannerist portico richly decorated.
This church was founded by the Queen Saint Isabel in 1300 and afterwards it was reconstructed by Filipe the 2nd between 1589 and 1633. It is worthy to mention the Renaissance coffers in stone on the main chapel, the 16th century glazed tiles, the stonework on the lateral altars, the pulpits and the carvings.
