This river starts in Fontes, crosses the town of Leiria and has its mouth in the Atlantic Ocean, to the north of the Vieira Beach, parish of Vieira de Leiria, municipality of Marinha Grande.

A legend named this "Penedo" ( a large rock), the legend of the Duchess of Caminha, a widower, that shed her tears in this place. It is a cliff with the name of Penedo da Saudade.

This church was built in wood in 1973, where there was a small chapel built in masonry whose date is unknown, having been demolished to give rise to the current church a lot bigger and modern.

Pedro de Moel, heading towards the North, passing by the Lighthouse of St. Peter (Penedo da Saudade), Praia da Concha, Old Beach, crosses the Ribeira de Moel and ends by the Praia da Vieira, making connection to the bicycle path of the river Lis.

The National Woods of Leiria or Leiria Pinewoods is one of the larges forests in Portugal, whose plantation was ordered by Dom Afonso III and later developed by Dom Dinis.

This museum, located in the old Barosas Palace, is composed of works donated by Joaquim Correia, professor and sculptor, to the Marinha Grande Town Hall. Joaquim Correia was one of the greatest artists in the parish.

The Museu do Vidro (Glass Museum) was created in 1954 even though it only opened in 1998. Located in the Stephens Palace, a neoclassic building of the second half of the 18th century, it has a space that houses a permanent exhibition and another for temporary exhibitions.
