Jardim Teófilo Braga - Jardim da Parada

Campo de Ourique

The Teófilo Braga garden, paying homage to the poet, writer and teacher with the same name, is also known by Parada Garden for being the former yard of the quarter parade. The statue paying homage to the feminine popular rebellion of Maria da Fonte, placed in the garden in 1920, is the origin of its other name, besides Campo de Ourique for it is the only one in this area. At the beginning of the decade the garden was recovered, equipped with new fittings and keeping some patrimonial elements. It is a tree area with two lakes and a playground.

With 8 ha, it is the oldest green area of the Parque Forestal de Monsanto. The net of ways in the woods is over 50 years and the dominant tree species are the large eucalyptus. It has a restaurant, playground, a swimming pool and fitness circuit.

The set of the house and garden is one of the most expressive of Portuguese art from the romantic and naturalist period. The gardens, recovered in 1992, English style from the XIX century, have an exotic and romantic atmosphere with a lake and a bandstand. It also has sculptures by Portuguese artists of that time such as Bordalo Pinheiro or Columbano. Dated from 1849, the farm is also called "Quinta do Beau-Séjour".
