Traditional meeting point to celebrate the conquests of the people of Guimarães. At one end of the Square, you can find a beautiful Renaissance fountain with three bowls. In the center of the square, an iron railing was placed to recover the old layout of the square.

It became known as Torre da Alfândega after the Alfândega (Customhouse) de Guimarães building was created next to it. Visiting this point is almost mandatory for anyone visiting the city for the first time. It is mainly known for the famous inscription "Aqui Nasceu Portugal" (Portugal Was Born Here).

Imposing statue with several tribute plaques, erected in honor of the first king of Portugal, Dom Afonso Henriques. It was designed by Soares dos Reis and was inaugurated in 1874. For some years it was in Praça do Toural, until it was definitively placed there.

Built in the reign of Dom Afonso IV, it was intended to commemorate the Battle of 1340. The porch consists of four carved broken arches, based on columns with carved capitals, topped by the Royal shield. The Parque da Cidade de Guimarães is a large and pleasant park that has a children's playground, multi-sports area, ping-pong table, fitness circuit and a lake.
