This is one of the most beautiful gardens on the Madeira Island, located about 5 km from the city center of Funchal. It occupies an area of 70000 m2 and is reforested with exotic plants from several continents. You can see cycads and proteas from South Africa, heather from Scotland, or redwoods from America. The vegetation mixes with ponds full of Koi fish, providing a spectacle of beauty and color. The alleys of the Garden are full of tile panels from the 16th and 20th centuries. Also, noteworthy are the terracotta panels and the 40 panels on the Portugal History.
