Place meant for various cultural and artistic events. With a natural attention to the theatre, it also welcomes initiatives from areas such as music, dance, cinema, multimedia or Plastic arts. It also contemplates the production of conferences and colloquies.

Opened in October, 14th, 1897, the Carlos Alberto Theatre has been an evidence of the agitated quick passing years, namely the 20ies. In February, 1979, the theatre became a multifaceted playhouse. From that date on, the Carlos Alberto National Auditorium has received different artistic areas shows: cinema, theatre, music, ballet and opera.

The Sá da Bandeira Theatre – initially Teatro-Circo and, after, Teatro do Príncipe Real – was open on August, 4th, 1855, being at the time a wood hut. In 1867 it was destroyed and, at the same place, a stone house was built. A week after the Republic Implantation, in 1910, it was called Teatro Sá da Bandeira.

The Museu de História Natural is part of the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto (Faculty of Science of the Porto University). It was created in 1996 and has several poles of other museological nucleus of former institutions. This museum has three rooms open to the public, the mineralogy room Montenegro de Andrade, the palaeontology room Wenceslau de Lima and the archaeology and pre- historic Mendes Côrrea.

In this museum you can admire works of painting, such as the Nossa Senhora da Conceição and Rainha Santa Isabel oil paintings by Vieira Portuense and dated from 1799, as well as sculpture, jewellery and furniture works. Under the church’s pavement there is also a catacomb cemetery built in 1795.

This museum shows us the national and international evolution of medicine through time with images, documents and even instruments. It is part of the set of Medical Sciences museums.

In this museum, property of the Town Hall, is installed the atelier of the Porto’s painter António Carneiro. Here we can admire an important part from the work of this great artist who lived between 1872 and 1930.

The culture’s house of Paranhos was opened in 1993. This is a space that works as a promoting pole, which organizes the entertaining and cultural activity of this zone.
