Igreja Paroquial de Alturas do Barroso

The parish church, Temple of longitudinal plant, is flanked by a churchyard, walled that for a long time was used as a cemetery, still sporting the whole floor lajeado.
The main façade has a portal of rectangular shape, surmounted by a round window surmounted by a belfry with two tears "founders, each of them with a Bell, crowned by two pinnacles, with ball Finial, and a cross trilobada.
The interior of this church is of a great ornamental wealth. The granite stone walls are partially covered in the chancel, by a tiled wainscot, with liturgical reasons represented; one of the stones of the ship has entered the date of 1679. On the ground, in granite, stand out from the covers of tombstones that lie in the chancel. The ceiling, lined in wood is painted and decorated in the central part of the body of the Church, with a panel depicting Saint Mary Magdalene.
The wall of the head of the Church is filled by the high altar, in gilt, richly decorated, where you will find some of the most important local devotions: Baby Jesus, Santa Maria Magdalena and Santa Barbara.
The Romanesque transept, which divides the chancel and the body of the Church has two side altars at the base and two side altars, docked in large niches on the walls of the body of the Church.
The sacristy houses inside an original granite, painted frown.
In this temple the Sunday masses are celebrated and the religious celebrations of the main festivals of the village and the parish: the feast of s. Sebastião (Heights of Barroso) and the feast of Santa Ana.
