Forno do Povo de Atilhó
The people of Atilhó oven is a vernacular rural construction in granite, two waters, coverage in tile, with a covered porch, attached to the main façade, which protects a granite pousadouro.
Inside the building, to the right of the front door you will find the tendal, massive granite structure, on top of which was placed a "smock" in wood, to protect the dough. In part fundeira are the ovens where the local population continues to bake traditional Scones.
The oven of the people played, in bygone days, an important role in village sociality, the so-called "coffee of the people", was where they gathered during the evenings, while cozia bread, mild cavaqueiras and conviviality in after the stressful days of work. It was also the hostel of the poor, beggars and pilgrims, passing through the village, which then stayed overnight and "tricking the hunger" with accurate "noogies" freshly baked bread, which severally people offered them.
