Antiga Judiaria de Belmonte
In the main square of the Jewish quarter is the famous ḥanukkah that lights up every year during the Festival of Lights, which usually takes place on the last weekend of the year. In this area, between the current streets Rua Direita and Rua Fonte da Rosa, you can find several small granite houses, with cruciform motifs on the threshold and on the small openings. The Jews were mostly artisans and merchants, so the lower floor of their houses was normally occupied by their workshop or shop.
