Aroeira I

The 20 minutes from Lisbon, sul do Tejo, in Mastic combine perfectly a championship course with the exuberance of nature that surrounds it. Frank Pennink designed this trail in a pine forest dotted with wild flowers, nature reserve of many species of birds. For its dense forestation, the British press called it the "Wentworth of Lisbon", in an allusion to the resemblance to the famous London route. The field offers great variety of game situations and the use of almost all clubs-without the existence of any "bunker" of "fairway". The 11 hole, a par 4, designed by Robert Trent Jones, requires a "blind shot" of output, then discover a spectacular green protected by water. In 1996 and 1997 the Aroeira hosted the Open de Portugal (European Tour).
