Islands located to the northeast of Peniche and the Cape Carvoeiro, a granite formation that is about 280 millions of years old. The largest is the Berlenga Island, but there are several smaller islands around it (Cerro da Velha, Estela and Meda do Norte, among others). It is one of the main nestling and refuge spots for sea birds and also houses a series of other species. Among the animals, a special note to the presence of lizards, namely the ocellated lizard, and among the plants, many herbal species.

In the Tagus marshes, and covering the Municipality of Golegã, next to the Almonda River, Paul do Boquilobo is an alluvial plain of swamps of great faunal and floristic importance. Here the water rises and falls, is still or moving and the land area increases and decreases depending on the season. It all depends on the flow of the Tagus and Almonda rivers. It is a privileged nesting site for numerous species of water birds (cattle heron and white heron), in a landscape dominated by willows (white and black) and aquatic plants (Caniço).

This is the last beach on the West Coast. On the road leading to the lighthouse, there is a plaque with the indication of beach. The Monastery of Leça do Balio, already existing in the 10th century, was profoundly altered in the 14th century under the direction of Estêvão Vasques Pimentel. From the 16th century, several interventions by Diogo Pires, the “Moço” stand out. The monastery church, restored in 1930, is one of the most important examples of Gothic architecture in Portugal. In this church took place the marriage of King Dom Fernando and Dona Leonor Teles. It was also the first headquarters of the Military Order of the Hospital.

The Parque das Nações has a 340 ha area and several km by the Tejo estuary. Here stand out the Oceanário (oceanarium), the Pavilhão da Realidade Virtual (virtual reality pavilion), the Pavilhão Atlântico (Atlantic pavilion), the Torre Vasco da Gama (tower) and the Estação do Oriente (railway station). The open air areas and the beautiful gardens, namely, the Jardim das Ondas (waves garden) and the Jardim da Água (water garden) invite you to take long walks.

Integrated into a world-class tourist region, the waters of the Termas do Estoril are known since the 18th century for its effectiveness in the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases, muscles, joints and skin, and the original building was built in the early 20th century.
