Also known as Jardim da Sereia, was once part of the fence of the monastery of Santa Cruz and dates back to the 18th century. The entrance to the Garden is through a triumphal arch, surmounted by three statues representing faith, hope and charity. The arch is still flanked by two turrets of Baroque decoration. The terrace of "The game" continues with its scenic waterfall in the background. The source of the Nogueira with a statue representing a Merman (popularly confused with a mermaid) by opening the mouth to a dolphin.

The family home of Almeida Garrett is a 17TH century building, similar to the place where you are. The central window of the first floor was boarded up and in its place was placed a large oval-shaped plate with festoons simulating Bay leaves, which reads: the House where he was born in February 4, 1797 João Baptista da Silva Leitão de Almeida Garrett-record to the memory of the great poet the City Council of this city in 1864.

Romanesque temple rebuilt by Dom João I, in late 14th century, in fulfilment of a promise made to Nossa Senhora da Oliveira, for victory at the battle of Aljubarrota. The chapter room and two wings of the present Romanesque-mudejar elements cloister, which constitute the best set of this style, granite throughout the country. This church has the only set of Gothic painting of ceiling in Portugal. Inside, stands the seventeenth-century choir stalls with neoclassical backrests.
Igreja de São João Evangelista das Carmelitas

The construction began in 1610 as the Paço de D. Brites Lara (Palace), and in 1657 the Ordem das Carmelitas feminine convent, space where the church is integrated, was built. By the end of the XVII century the pulpits were built and the dressing in golden woodcarving began. In the next century the referred woodcarving was combined with azulejos (glazed tiles) from the Vital Rifarto factory. Already at the XX century, the building suffered repair works, being classified as National Monument.
