The Hotel Rural Quinta do Silval is situated on the left bank of the river Pinhão, being the first wine hotel of the demarcated Douro region. The Fontaínhas Viewpoint is located in one of the historic areas of the city of Porto. It is located next to Ponte do Infante and, from here, you can see Vila Nova de Gaia, on the other side of the river, as well as part of the popular D. Luís I Bridge. It is also one of the most used places to see the fireworks foe the Saint John feasts.

Considered to be one of the city’s ex-libris, the Serra do Pilar (and its typical church) is located at the city entrance, one of the highest places of Vila Nova de Gaia. The Convent, that no longer functions, belonged to the observing prebendary of Santo Agostinho, that occupied the place during the 16th century. In front of the church there’s a belvedere with one of the most beautiful panoramic views of Oporto.

Classification as National Monument encompasses the former convent of Santo António da Lourinhã, including the Church of Saint Anthony, also known as Igreja do Convento de Santo António da Lourinhã and Church of our Lady of the Annunciation. Monument of Mannerist style, Baroque, Rococo and neoclassic. Mostly, the decoration shows Baroque inspiration, excepting the altarpieces that are neoclassicals.

The building of the old Clube dos Ingleses (English Club) has two floors. The upstairs floor has balcony windows with iron bars ended by triangular and curved forms’ frontons. The main front opens to the ancient garden with three curved doors. Inside the building the hall with six arches, based on pillars, the stucco decoration and the paintings on the ceiling stand out.

The São João Theatre was open in 1798, at the present Praça da Batalha. This theatre, which became the binding meeting point to the romantic generation, was destroyed by a fire in April, 1908. Nowadays, the Companhia Nacional do Teatro São João, totally rebuilt by Marques da Silva, is one of the main buildings in the city and stage for the most important cultural shows of the city.

It is a large fortified town dating from the iron age\/Roman times with occupation in the middle ages. The houses feature a round plant, some with separate foyer and lajeadas streets. There are five lines of ramparts, reinforced by the rising side by turrets arranged in accordance with the terrain or accidents where the need for defence to that required. It is also known as Monte do Castelo de Neiva.
