Roman ruins located at the foot of Monte da Senhora do Castelo, an old fortified castro from the Iron Age. The archaeological structures that are uncovered constitute an inn, what the Romans called "mansio". It sheltered and welcomed passers-by who traveled throughout the empire and rested there, enjoying a relaxing bath in its private spa.

This building, dating back to the 18th century and also known as Casa do Cimo da Vila (House of the Top of the Village), has a chapel with great masonry on the windows, doors and cornices. In its interior, the baroque and rococo tiles of the palace area and, in the main chapel, the tiles and carvings of the epoch of Dom João stand out.

It is a set of sections of the old 14th century wall, where some sections near the Porta do Soar de Cima and the Porta de Cavaleiros stand out, the only remaining ones of the seven primitive gates. These doors have profile arches pointed on the outside and lowered on the soffit and a niche with the image of the tutelary saint.

At the square ends are the São Tiago Church, Romanic style, and the São Bartolomeu, from the baroque period. Also worthy of notice are the pillory and the XVII and XVIII centuries buildings around.

This monument was restored in 1916. With a civil architecture, from the seventeen hundreds, São Miguel do Outeiro pillory lays in a platform with three steps with prominent ledge, monolithic and prismatic column with three frames overlapped. It also has an octagonal capital composed by several frames arranged by degrees in increasing surfaces and finished in orb.

Originally this stone column was about 30 metres high and 3 metres of diameter, but in 1939 it was put down to built the present Avenida do Mar. In 1987 it was partially rebuilt with some of the original stones, not far from the place where it used to be. Its name is due to the responsible of the construction, the English John Light Banger.
