A beach by the Vouga river's mouth, with a wide stretch of fine, white sand. Several restaurants and terraces with a good nightlife.

Rocky Beach, isolated, situated in a Valley covered with reeds, being therefore limited access. There is a wooden staircase that connects you to the beach, which is full of rocks and pebbles, more visible when the tide goes out. Is frequented almost exclusively by fishermen.

It is located in the old town of Funchal, opposite the São Tiago Fort. It has a blue flag and good conditions for tourists. Not only that, but it has a children's pool with paid entry, toilet, changing rooms, bar, umbrellas, sun loungers, children's playground and first aid station. It also has a car park and access for the disabled.

A very isolated beach, surrounded by mountains, attended by naturists. It shares it sand with the Cordoama and Castelejo beach, but has different entrances. It is quite fit for radical sports, namely surfing and paragliding.

A white sand beach, with vigilance and interesting rocky formations that make it look like a shell. It has calm, crystal clear water. There are a few restaurants.

A beach with boardwalks, located in a tourism and cultural centre. It is attended mostly by youngsters and tourists. It has many restaurants, bars and terraces. It is quite lively at night. There are many shops.

Low quality, rocky beach, attended by fishermen and locals.

A beach with a wide stretch of sand. On its northern part one may see the transition from the rocky cliffs to the wide dunes that almost reach the sea. That area is quite attended by naturists. On the southern part there is a brook that separates the sand from the road and from the cliff. At times, a lagoon is formed between th road and the beach, a place where the children may play safely. It is excellent for surfing. Nearby, there are vestiges of an 18th century fortress, mesozoic formations and valuable fossile reefs.

A beach with a large sandy area and clear waters, with several rocky formations.It has parking, balnearies, lockers and a first aid station.

Small sandy beach with black sand and dark pebbles, a calm corner where to do to the beach away from the masses.
