The castle of Serpa is part of the historic centre. The fortification is 230 m above sea level and is an integral part of the walled structure of Serpa, built by d. Dinis.

This church has one only nave and it is preceded by an ample porch with a mudejar top, built in 1463 by orders of the Duke of Beja (Infant D. Fernardo) for the Xabregas abbots. During the kingdom of D. Manuel it has rebuilt. It stands out the flapped vault on the porch, the main chapel, the cloister and the chapter room. Attention should also be paid to the unusual configuration from the small cloister and the glazed tiles from the 17th century.

This military fortress already existed during the Roman Period, although there are no records concerning its destruction and reconstruction. The present fortress was built under the orders of D. Dinis and was composed by a powerful Castle and by a double towered wall. There still remain some important traces from the wall and one can point out the one which is topped by a large arcade from the aqueduct that is extended until a monumental Moorish waterwheel. Convent that denotes the Manueline, Mannerist and Baroque architectures. Its origin is Gothic, which shows with the Church subscribed to portal alfiz and triumphal arch. Is in the decoration that shows the Baroque, especially in painting the ceiling.

This church of Romanesque style, in which stands out the rich Gallery of the high altar, is in good condition.

The work of the late 18th century, was built on the site of the apparition of an image of Christ Crucified.

This church has a Romanic origin. It was altered on the 18th century and presently it is in a good conservation form. The lateral doorway is Romanic, with two archivolts, capitals and ornate abacus with fitomorphic and zoomorphic elements.

The Manor of Arms dating back to the 18th century. Endowed with gates of the 19th century, the Italian Bigaglia. Obeys the general lines of the style of the 17th and 18th centuries. This church under the mannerist style has its main point of interest on the inside. With one only nave and the roof in wood, the main chapel stands out for its roof ornate with polychrome coffers and the altar is covered with golden carving.
