The Jewish community has its presence documented since the beginning of the 13th century, but several facts point to the existence of the neighborhood before that date. Modernity and the past intersect in the surroundings of the Instituto Politécnico da Guarda, with an imposing fountain that marks the already distant history of the city. Although it is not possible to define with certainty the time of its construction, the Fountain features elements typical of the Baroque and its structure has side pilasters, three spouts and a curved pediment with the royal arms.
