Being the only thermal resort in the Algarve, Caldas de Monchique is located at an altitude of 350 meters and 20 kilometers from the Algarve coast, in the middle of the Serra de Monchique. The 40 hectares of forest that surround it make this place extremely pleasant. The waters are recommended for respiratory tract, digestive, rheumatic and psychosomatic conditions. It also offers wine therapy and weight loss programs, among others.
This is the highest point in the Algarve, at 902 meters. The extent of the landscape depends on the greater or lesser cloudiness, but on clear days the view extends, on the one hand, to Cabo de São Vicente and further north to Serra da Arrábida, and on the other, to Faro.
Church with a longitudinal plan, with a beautiful Manueline portico and gilded altarpiece in the main chapel. In the Church there is a sacred treasure composed of cult objects that belonged to the former convent of Nossa Senhora do Desterro (17th century) and valuable vestments.
This mountain range belongs to the Antigo Massif , south of the Tagus and divides the Alentejo from the Algarve. It is located between the Espinhaço de Cão and Caldeirão mountains. It has a maximum altitude of 902 meters (reached in Foia) and measures 30 km in length.
