This museum is located in the highschool. It features findings of digs that took place in a medieval hermitage and in a late-roman necropolis, by the Guadiana river.
The ancient Citadel, as well as important sections of the wall that surrounded the population, are still preserved. Archaeological work carried out in the Citadel of the Castle uncovered a Moorish quarter of centuries XII\/XIII, and various Roman structures of the 4th century. The Arab ceramic pieces found are exposed in the core of the Museum of Mértola.
A tourism boat in the Guadiana river. One may enjoy the riches of the fauna and of the flora of this river whose spring is located at an altitude of 1700 metres, near Ciudad Real, in Spain, and flows on the the Atlantic Ocean after a journey of 829 km to its mouth on the border between Vila Real de Santo António and Ayamonte.
Esta produção destina-se a utensílios de louça caseira, nomeadamente, alguidares, assadeiras, barris para água, fogareiros, panelas, potes, cafeteiras, entre outros. É de cor vermelho escuro e excelente para ser utilizada no forno; tem formas romanas e árabes. Existiu em Beringel, situada no Baixo Alentejo, a 11 km de Beja, produção de louça artística no século XVIII, criada pelo alemão Hoffman.
A técnica para a confeção deste artesanato é a do fio puxado com um arame (carapulo), formando desenhos (flores, estrelas e figuras humanas estilizadas). Alternam duas cores, em que uma delas é o branco e a outra é o azul, o preto ou o grená. Existem dois tipos de colchas: Colchas grandes ou de carapulo (para camas) e Colchas de Aparelho (para enfeitar os animais em dias de festa).
