An ethnographic museum that is rather linked to the rural way of life. It exhibits the human aspects of every village in Trás-os-Montes: the peasant's objects, the popular art and the objects that picture the passage from the rural life to the industrial world.

It belongs to the Old Massif and it is located on the centre-east of the Trás-os-Montes region, between the Tua and Sabor rivers. A praia fluvial da Fraga da Pegada surgiu com a criação da albufeira artificial do Azibo. Após o transporte de areia fina para o local e a construção de infraestruturas de apoio como estacionamento, bar, WC, duches e telefone, foram criadas as condições que arrastam centenas de transmontanos em busca de um local balnear no fulgor do verão.
