São Francisco convent was constructed under the orders of Filipe III next to Várzea Grande, once it was necessary to be next to the hospital, in case the regulars needed it. It possesses one only nave, main chapel, lateral chapels, cloister from the 17th century, and convent divisions. The main façade is composed by three bodies in which the central one has three floors. This is a Baroque pillory from the 17th century with five square steps where it is settled a quite high column. The shaft is monolithic, framed in each face and decorate with vegan elements. The finishing is done by a spire crowned by iron armillary sphere.
Source which is protected by a porch with four columns and entablature with pinnacles. The Center has an inscription dated 1746, surmounted by a cross. The classification covers the terreiro annex.
