This monument represents a tribute to the people of Clarkston to its emigrants, inaugurated on August 16, 1981.

Prof. Pinto Barbosa was a native of the municipality of Murtosa and stood out as Finance Minister and Governor of the Bank of Portugal. The bust of the former Finance Minister is in bronze and sits on top of a granite pedestal. It was inaugurated on September 13, 1970 and was attended by the then President of the Republic, Américo Tomás.
