Founded in 1540, this convent features of various eras. In this monument are the main façade, the taste, the filipino side, with its three-story portico, (being the last Baroque, with pediment crowned by the Royal shield). A special attention to the balcony of Kings, five arches Gallery to the left side of the portico, the two cloisters and the interior, with three naves, with all its decoration. Currently, works here the Municipal Museum Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso.

This is one of the most known Romanic Monasteries. It is rather well conserved with rich sculptures elements and a high crenel tower with a bell which doorway displays in its tympanum an Agnus Dei. The church main doorway has four archivolts, in which the arches are settled in worked capitals being topped by a row of modillions. It has a crenel bell tower to which one enters by a doorway with two archivolts sculpted in low relief. Initially belonging to a female monastery of the order of St. Benedict, founded in the 12th century. However, the extinction of the monastery, in 1418, and the subsequent construction of a new parish church dictated its gradual downfall. Despite the transformations suffered in the 18TH century, the original factory of this church, of small dimensions, constitutes a good testimony of late Romanesque architecture, as evidenced by its main portal. It is worth noting the dogs, of geometric decoration, their elevations sides and Corbels that accuse the existence of a porch on the South side of the Church.

In higher quota to the Church of the convent of São Gonçalo, this temple was built in the first half of the 18th century by Dominican Third. Holder of a Baroque-style facade, the interior is lavishly decorated with gilt, with a Rococo altar.
